Capgemini’s LYONSCG fuels eCommerce learning at Northwestern University
Kellogg School of Management turns to LYONSCG to support its digital education efforts in the classroom
CHICAGO, Dec. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Lyons Consulting Group (LYONSCG), part of Capgemini, today announced its pro bono engagement with Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. As part of this engagement, LYONSCG implemented Salesforce Commerce Cloud to assist graduate students in the School’s eCommerce and Digital Marketing program.
“Our industry continues to evolve at an astounding pace, so it is more important than ever to have a well-founded business strategy in place,” said Rich Lyons, CEO of LYONSCG, part of the Capgemini Group. “As a Kellogg School alumnus, I understand the value that hands-on, real-world experience can bring to the classroom. Kellogg has always provided its students with the necessary tools to succeed, and the technology we’re running in this innovative course will help prepare students for the challenges and rewards of running a real eCommerce site.”
Graduate students in the eCommerce and Digital Marketing course are tasked with establishing business teams and creating an eCommerce website where real products are “sold” to real consumers. To see success in this experiential and innovative learning class, students must develop a strong retail strategy that includes merchandising, vendor negotiations, pricing and promotions, and a compelling advertising plan.
LYONSCG built and implemented a reusable eCommerce storefront template on Salesforce Commerce Cloud and has supported this project for the past two and a half years. To help ensure proper training within the Business Manager tool, LYONSCG architects and analysts work closely with Kellogg School professors. Then, at the end of each quarter, the sites are wiped clean and re-set for the incoming class.
“Kellogg has always been at the forefront of strategic thinking in the consumer and retail sector,” said Josh Chernoff, Adjunct Lecturer in Marketing at Kellogg School of Management. “This unique instructional model allows students to participate in creating and implementing a direct-to-consumer business model and get real-world consumer feedback on their efforts. With LYONSCG’s support, we are able to deliver an innovative and highly differentiated classroom experience that prepares students for the rapidly transforming world of eCommerce.”
The project continues to be managed and maintained by LYONSCG’s Commerce Realized post-launch support practice. The in-house team of platform-certified experts provides 24/7/365 oversight, lightning-fast emergency response times and more than a 90 percent client retention rate. As a reflection of this preparedness, the practice now retains support services for more than 100 global customers. LYONSCG’s in-house consultants have the support and scale of Capgemini and leverage a holistic arsenal of digital marketing, strategy, design, creative, and technology solutions to continually optimize a client’s digital presence.
