Maui Jim Relaunches Website on LCG Commerce Powered by Magento

Steve Susina • May 24, 2013

PEORIA, IL  – Maui Jim, the fastest growing premium polarized sunglass maker in the world, announced it has re-launched its website, www.mauijim.com, due to an increasing need for scalability, manageability and expandability for their online business. The solution was to partner with Chicago-based Lyons Consulting Group, the premier eCommerce design, development and support firm, to develop the new site in order to meet and exceed standards set by competing sites.

Built on LCG Commerce, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform powered by Magento, the new site  uses best practices in design, implementation, and maintenance.  With their strategic partnership with Lyons Consulting Group, mauijim.com now features a variety of new functionalities that are flexible, easy to manage, and based on a platform that would support plans for international online growth. New efficiencies include:

  • A backend system that allows Maui Jim employees to manage and update contextually and culturally appropriate content for their various sales regions
  • A solid, structured founding upon which to build future iterations of the Maui Jim eCommerce business channel
  • Efficient and simplistic self-service functionality to all end users
  • Accommodation of a growing percentage of international business

Since the re-launch of the site on January 24, Maui Jim has seen an increase in their average order value and store volume.

“We needed a site with a fresh look, flexibility in managing content, and an opportunity for us to easily expand into the international market. Lyons Consulting Group has provided just that,” said Larry Mills, Chief Information Officer of Maui Jim. “The results speak for themselves. We are very happy with the improved functionality of our site.”

Rich Lyons, President and Founder of Lyons Consulting Group added, “The Maui Jim brand is one of the best known brands of sunglasses in the world. We were thrilled to see their online business grow.”

Now, after the launch, Maui Jim has decided to take the transformation of their online business a few steps further.  Future endeavors between Maui Jim and Lyons Consulting Group include evolving design enhancements and to develop then support several of Maui Jim’s international sites.

Maui Jim
Now the fastest growing premium polarized sunglass maker in the world, Maui Jim got its start in 1980 as a small company selling sunglasses on the beach in Lahaina, Hawaii. Seeing a need in the market for technology that could combat intense glare and harmful UV while bringing the brilliant colors of the island to life, our fledgling company engineered the revolutionary PolarizedPlus® lens. Incorporated into seven new sunglass styles, our Classic Collection was introduced. And with that, we have steadily built a cult following.
