LyonsCG Launches BBQ Pro Shop on Magento Platform

Steve Susina • November 10, 2012

CHICAGO – Lyons Consulting Group, an e-commerce design and development firm, today announced the launch of the BBQ Pro Shop web site (www.bbqproshop.com)on Magento, the open source e-commerce platform. Jeff and Gretchen Belmonti, founders of the outdoor BBQ, grilling and cooking specialty shop, migrated from Yahoo! Stores citing the need for more flexibility and ease of use when it comes to promotions, customer accounts, shipping, and third party plug-ins.

“Magento allowed me to skin the site and pack it with features that people look for today,” said Jeff Belmonti. “Customers can register and login to rate products and share feedback, tips, and recipes with each other. Now we can manage promotions – cross sell, up sell and recommend products – and offer a better variety of shipping and payment options. Plus, it integrates with MailChimp to support our bi-monthly email updates to drive traffic and interest in new products.”

Social media plays a large role in the BBQ Pro Shop’s strategy to support its growing customer community. The new site integrates the BBQ Pro Shop’s popular blog and also features a Twitter feed for @bbqpro.

“BBQ Pro Shop represents what we’re seeing as a significant trend among our e-commerce clients,” said Rich Lyons, president and founder of Lyons Consulting Group. “Now more than ever, retailers need the latest features and functionality in order to compete online. The Magento open source e-commerce platform provides a robust, yet affordable solution that’s perfect for growing retailers.”

As the leading Magento Enterprise partner in the Midwest, Lyons Consulting Group worked closely with BBQ Pro Shop to design and implement a site that takes full advantage of the features available in the open source e-commerce platform. The site was designed to meet all of Belmonti’s current needs, but with an eye for future growth as well.

BBQ Pro Shop

Born out of a love for BBQ, cooking and grilling in 2006, BBQ Pro Shop (www.bbqproshop.com) was launched with the goal of sharing useful and hard-to-find grilling products that founders Gretchen and Jeff Belmonti just can’t live without. Gretchen Belmonti is known for her award-winning marketing and public relations work for client Weber-Stephen Products Co., the makers of Weber grills, and for her partnership with Elizabeth Karmel on the popular Girls at the Grill (www.girlsatthegrill.com) site. Gretchen and Jeff are both certified Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) judges and Gretchen judged the prestigious Jack Daniels Invitational Barbecue contest in 2001. The BBQ Pro Shop site features a wide variety of BBQ, cooking and grilling products including Willingham’s, Sarah’s Sea Salt, Coastal Goods, 17th Street Rubs & Sauces and the entire line of Grill Friends tools. BBQ Pro Shop offers hard to find specialty sauces and rubs from some of America’s most famous Pitmasters.
