Challenge
Saddled with an out-dated, functionally-limited corporate Intranet, this client wanted a more effective way to distribute corporate communication, newsletters, and events to its 5,000-person geographically dispersed workforce. The main priority on this project was efficiency and ease in finding information related to each division and department. To add functionality to the client's corporate Intranet, they sought collaboration technologies to improve project delivery and communication.

Solution
Lyons Consulting Group implemented Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server -- creating an information architecture and a user-friendly interface based on the client's specific business goals and objectives. A corporate 'file cabinet' brought the most commonly used information to the front of the site. Each department and division gained a portal site dedicated to their specific needs. Finally, Enterprise Search enabled users to search across the entire corporation for appropriate information. By restricting access rights to search results, information was only delivered to premissible viewers.

Outcome
Our client's new SharePoint portal helped them easily share and distribute a broad range of information to its distributed workforce. Because employees now have the ability to update and manage their own 'portals', they're able to share current infromation faster so that everyone is up to date on new standards, policies, and information.
