The Business Intelligence Factory
This LCG framework for managing information offers you a proven way to organize information systems. Information architecture, legacy systems, data warehouses, data marts, and the Internet all work together to meet real business needs. Traditional factories start with raw materials and produce finished goods. Your Business Intelligence Factory takes in raw data (via data slices), processes it, and turns it into information and knowledge.

Other Services: Evolve with You

Six things to consider prior to your BI initiative:
1: Start Small/Plan Big: A major reason why many BI projects fail is because of scope. BI roadmaps will help you define the future of your warehouse 3 to 5 phases into the future; implement small and strategic and start with areas that could stand to benefit most.
2: Readiness: Is your organization ready to use a Business Intelligence solution? Do you have executive sponsorship? Have you secured commitments from your key stakeholders? Do they have the time and are they ready to support this initiative through completion?
3: Planning: Use the 80/20 rule in this case – spend 80% of your time planning your next BI initiative and 20% of your time implementing it. Do you have a good plan in place for managing a BI project?
4: Analysis: Understanding the business, its goals and processes is key. Do you have solid business analysis support for this initiative? Do you know who will be responsible for using the information derived from your BI initiative?
5: Data Stewardship: This involves defining the roles that business and IT play in the ownership and management of your data. Data has both technical accuracy and semantic meaning. IT owns technical accuracy as it is moved out of your operational systems. The most successful warehouses have business ownership and involvement in the semantic accuracy of the data. Have you identified who would participate in these processes within your organization?
6: The A-Ha Business Intelligence Moment: Most successful warehouses deliver insight into your business that is news to the organization. Have you architected your warehouse to respond to those new insights?
